SOS
(written just after the Orissa cyclone around 2002-03)

Fierce tidal waves rips asunder
villages, towns, cities ..
humans and cattles
slain in the battle.

Bodies here and bodies there,
they’re strewn across everywhere
ghastly sights greets the eye!
images of misery that linger.

Thousands have perished
gone forever
Orissa has suffered a tragedy
can hardly ever recover.

While Orissa weeps …
it’s cries could be heard across distant seas
vast fertile stretch have narrowed
And can never douse its sorrows.

Come forward
Come one, come all
Let’s do our mite
So that the state can fight
Its tragedy
With support from us all
Like Kargil
Countrymen should respond
to this call.

  • Subhajit Ghosh: Your wish has been granted, and look how! Even NDA possibly didn't dream of this huge victory. Let's hope they deliver, and take the nation forward.
  • mystic wanderer: Third Front would be disaster, and UPA (again) would be a severe step backward. BJP/NDA led by Modi seems the only worthwhile choice.
  • WB: You're very welcome.
