Trudge a mile
Rest a while
Country Road
Take me home
Oh, a long way to go!
Forsaken lot
Bereft of blessings of the Lord
Those that made the cities
The glitzy building that sparkles
And cleaned its grime
A bitter lesson learnt
And Lives will never be the same again.

Darkest hour
Herald a new dawn
Of Hope
To Covet
To Cherish
To Protect
Children of a lesser God
Echoing green
Thee from avarice
Ebbing morals

Up for estimation
Creativity, Wisdom and Knowledge
Decider of human competency
And the lack of it
Millions undergo the knotty ordeal
Some emerge victorious
Some are crestfallen
Some bid adieu
Killjoy and killer
Like the mysterious Lord Krishna
Upholder of righteousness
Firmly entrenched in our midst

As he looked

Sea of Humanity appeared

Out of Nowhere

They seemed headed in the opposite direction

He thought he was one of them

Deep inside he knew he wasn’t

Some idiot had said

Seeing is believeing

The teeming millions laugh

They believe in The Unseen

Their cockiness unbelievable

They can trade life and death for inherited belief

He was afraid

Meeting the fate of dinosaurs

Strangely he felt transported in a Jurassic Park

The approaching crowd seemed like marauding dinosaurs on the rampage

He began to search for an escape to save him

And wondered whether Humankind can ever escape from the scourge of irrationality

Shower Thy Light

On my eyes

O Lord …

Memories seem like mirage

The distance now infinite

Can illusion ever hold a candle to the real?

The absolute truth

Your absence

Punctuates every waking moment.

Silence speaks so eloquently

Why is there so much cacophony all around?

Words have lost their meaning

Languages and all this development in communication

Did it help us to foster brotherhood?

The killing fields are all around us

The echoing greens have vanished

As has the child in the Man

God made Man in His own image

See what Man has made of Man.

Get Hit

Spray it all around

The danger lurks

In every corner

Children are susceptible

Like the rest

Pre-emption is a missing word

In the dictionary

Each year

Delhi and its neighborhood

Becomes the breeding ground

Allows playing

To sting during the day

As figures soar

The Politicians play the blame game

While touts make a killing

Of Papaya leaves and goats milk

The writing is on the wall

The National Capital manifest the symptoms

And its consequential effects

Unfailing since last few years

Haven’t succeeded

To keep the menace at bay

And hapless citizens

Suffer the nightmare silently

A few among them wouldn’t live

To see the next sunrise …

Death has taken you away
No one can say
Whether we’ll ever reunite
From wherever you are
Absence pains us
The optimist in me believes
In some form
We’ll meet again…

(In memory of my father)

  • Subhajit Ghosh: Have been reading that he had 'left' leanings in some articles recently..
  • mystic wanderer: Well put. It's difficult to imagine the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. But can Netaji Subhash Ch. Bose be called a leftist? Nationalist perhaps
  • Subhajit Ghosh: Your wish has been granted, and look how! Even NDA possibly didn't dream of this huge victory. Let's hope they deliver, and take the nation forward.
